The 2011 - 2012 grant compliments the existing project,"YES, EVERYONE CAN PLAY", which focused on replacing the Homesteaders’ Park playground equipment with universally accessible playground equipment and installing a small, artificial turf field. The new playground is available for all children, including handicapped children. The "YES, EVERYONE CAN PLAY" project arose from the desire of local parents to meet the need for this type of recreational resource in our area. Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) funds have been utilized for those pieces of the project.
CDOT Enhancement funds were utilized for creation of paths and amenities around the new playground.
Components of the enhancement project included placing benches which will be placed to encourage use of the paths, lighting that will make the site more usable during evening hours, fencing that will enhance the area and provide safety for children playing in the area, and a small, paved trailhead staging area for events at the site.
